Athletic Training and Development

Campus Life Faith in Training is a program that aims to challenge students physically through athletic development, socially through team activities, mentally to make healthy choices, and spiritually by connecting them to Jesus. Kids work with our Health and Fitness Director, Chris Holton, and Matt Leppien.

Our mission is to provide the best fitness and faith-building program for middle and high school-aged students that utilize methods most appropriate to where they are in their biopsychosocial (biological, psychological, and social) development. In terms of where they are in their development, teens and pre-teens are not just small adults, which means they should not be given a fitness program designed for adults.


Campus Life FIT has a variety of programs throughout the year for different age groups, led by our Campus Life FIT Directors:

Chris has a master's degree in exercise science. He is also a certified speed and agility coach and is the strength and conditioning coach for Alma College’s football and basketball teams.

Matt has a master’s degree in exercise science, as well as a personal training certification. He has experience training a variety of teams and students of all ages in the aspects of health, wellness, and fitness.

  • Campus Life FIT Middle School after-school programs are available for 6-8 graders on Tuesdays and Thursdays at both Campus Life locations. This program focuses on building general strength, athleticism, and fitness as well as challenging students in their faith through teen-focused devotionals.

    Tuesdays and Thursdays starting January 17th, 2023

    Located at the Campus Life Building in both Gratiot and Isabella.

  • Campus Life FIT directors work alongside partnering high school's athletic program to offer athletic strength training and conditioning.
