An update from Chris Holton:
Hello, CMYFC family. I want to take the opportunity to share with you how our summer Campus Life FIT (Faith in Training) programs have been going in Gratiot County. We kicked off summer FIT at the beginning of June, working with both middle school students from Alma and St. Louis at our YFC building in Alma, and with Alma High School’s soccer and football teams. We have worked with about 80 students combined between middle school and high school in Gratiot County this summer. The middle school students have been working hard to improve their weight lifting technique and their health and fitness through several workouts and fitness games specifically chosen with their current stage of physical and mental development in mind.
We have also been working through a devotional called, “True Competitor” which highlights the ways God wants to develop our character and attitude through the positive elements of training and athletics. The Alma High School soccer and football teams have been working hard to prepare for their upcoming fall seasons. This is our fourth year working with these programs, and their improvement throughout the summer has been evident. In addition to watching them improve their athleticism, the relationships we have built with both players and coaches have been a blessing. We are in our fifth year of running Campus Life FIT at our Alma location.
Our middle school program is not just for athletes
The program is for any middle school student that simply wants to improve their health and fitness, while also being encouraged spiritually through our variety of devotionals written for their age group. Being able to combine physical and spiritual development is the heart of our FIT program. And while our summer high school FIT program is mostly focused on specific team development, we are also in the weight room after school, during the school year, to assist students and build relationships with them. We’re looking forward to finishing our summer program strong and heading into the school year ready to keep the momentum rolling!
